Teach Like Your Hair Is On Fire

Someone at work recommended this book to me: Teach Like Your Hair Is On Fire. It's about a schoolteacher named Rafe Esquith whose 5th grade class, in a school in a poor neighbourhood, puts on an amazing (unabridged) Shakespeare play each year, and whose students go on to Ivy League universities.     If you're interested in the matter, there is another great book about this: Work Hard, Be Nice (http://www.amazon.com/Work-Hard-Be-Nice-Promising/dp/1565125169/). It's about two guys that after a year of teach of america get inspired by Esquith and another bunch of people and started something called KIPP: knowledge is power program.
    Oh, and i happened to be reading this post via Google reader suggested items (if you were wondering).
